Why is Dominion Trading Different?

It’s not about us.

Most companies are started with the purpose of making money. In that respect, we are no different. The difference is in how the net income is distributed.

Our business model distributes 60% of the net income to the farmers in the form of profit sharing, technology transfer, and the New Covenant Foundation.

20% to Ethiopian coffee farmers.

The Ethiopian farmers participate in the success of the company.

20% to technology transfer.

This technology transfer is in the form of education by agricultural extension, improved equipment, better processes and safety.

20% to the New Covenant Foundation

The New Covenant Foundation was established to help the Ethiopian people in the areas of: evangelism, health, charity, education, finance, innovation, and marketing.

Why will this model work?

The price paid to the farmer can be regulated worldwide to raise the income of the farmer. This is called “Fair Trade.” However, the world economy differs from country to country. Three dollars will by you a latte in the U.S. and a pig in another country. So, a world-wide regulated price doesn't always work. It is intended to be fair. To really be fair is to allow the farmer to reap the reward of profit through his labor, attention to quality, and product demand.

However, there is another approach combining profit sharing, technology transfer, and humanitarian aid. This is Dominion Trading's model.
